Executive Vice President*
Elizabeth Nolan is an executive vice president and the co-head of State Street Global Services, EMEA. In this role, she is focused on driving and executing our servicing strategy for the domestic markets. Liz joined State Street in October 2015 and has 30+ years’ experience in the financial services industry. She is currently transitioning to the role of chief executive officer for EMEA, subject to regulatory approval.
Prior to State Street, Liz was responsible for the Custody & Clearance business for Deutsche Bank Global. She spent 12 years at J.P. Morgan where her responsibilities included developing various global business lines including Alternative Investments Services and Clearance and Collateral Management, and leading a global Client Management organisation covering clients across all sectors.
Prior to J.P. Morgan, Liz held senior business management positions at Merrill Lynch, BNP Paribas and Chase Manhattan Bank. She started her career at Barclays Bank on a management development programme.

Executive Vice President and CFO for EMEA
Melissa Ballenger is an executive vice president and chief financial officer (CFO) for EMEA. She is responsible for overseeing Finance, Treasury, Real Estate and Procurement for EMEA, and maintaining end-to-end oversight of all financial management and control functions for business lines and legal entities in the region. She plays an important role in advancing State Street’s change programmes and driving the growth and performance of the regional franchise.
Melissa joined State Street in July 2017, having previously been Chief Financial Officer at Santander Bank in the US, where she was also Chief Business Control Officer. She has held executive financial positions at TD Bank, MasterCard Worldwide, Washington Mutual Bank and Freddie Mac.
Melissa graduated summa cum laude from the College of William and Mary in Virginia, with a Bachelors in Business Administration (concentration in accounting and minor in mathematics). She is a Certified Public Accountant.
Executive Vice President, global head of Trading and Clearing
Martine Bond is an executive vice president responsible for Trading and Clearing within State Street Global Exchange. Trading and Clearing provides clients with market-leading electronic trading platforms across the foreign exchange (FX) and fixed income asset classes, as well as comprehensive futures and over-the-counter (OTC) clearing services.
Martine joined State Street to oversee the operation and expansion of core trading and clearing assets including Currenex®, FX Connect®, FundConnect®, GovEx®, SwapEx®, and the Futures and OTC Clearing business.
Prior to joining State Street, she worked at Morgan Stanley, where she ran the FX Prime Brokerage and Clearing businesses, and the FX Gateway multi-manager investment portal. Martine was the global COO for the Foreign Exchange and Emerging Markets business, where she was responsible for developing and implementing key strategic business growth opportunities for the business. From 2004 to 2009, Martine led the FX Prime Brokerage business for JPMorgan where she was responsible for developing and executing core product strategies for alternative clients. Between 2000 and 2004, she managed the European Equities Client Management team.
Martine studied business management at Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia.
Executive Vice President, global head of Sector Solutions – Alternatives
As executive vice president and global head of Sector Solutions – Alternatives, Maria Cantillon is responsible for driving global sales and client relationships across State Street’s Hedge, Private Equity, Offshore and Real Estate Fund Administration businesses worldwide. Maria is based in London and manages teams across North America, Asia Pacific and Europe.
Maria works closely with leading managers in the Alternatives industry, advising them on complex industry challenges such as operational efficiency, overcoming regulatory barriers and risk management.
Maria regularly speaks at high-profile industry events such as SALT and EuroHedge and is a Champion for Women in Business. She is State Street’s Ambassador to the 30% Club and part of the Senior Women's EMEA-wide Female Mentoring club. Maria is also a member of the UK government initiative ‘Project 28-40’ and was also recently featured in the ‘FN100 Women’, which is the Financial News’ annual editorial pick of the most influential female executives working in financial services across EMEA.
Executive Vice President, Global Client Delivery & Business Transformation
Anthony Carey is an executive vice president and global head of client delivery and business transformation. He is also a member of the UK Oversight Committee and the regional Executive Management Committee. Tony plays a key role in the execution of the different components of our operating-model simplification, including process re-engineering, technology, footprint and real estate.
Following State Street’s acquisition of the Intesa San Paolo Securities Services business in Italy and Luxembourg in 2010, Anthony assumed responsibility for the successful integration of the business into State Street.
Before joining State Street in 2008, Anthony worked at Chase Manhattan Bank, helping to create their investment services business in Ireland following the local adoption of the European UCITS legislation. He held various roles during his tenure with Chase, and subsequently J.P. Morgan following their corporate merger, including Managing Director for Ireland and Chief Operating Officer for European fund administration.
Anthony has participated in various industry bodies and held the position of chairman of the Dublin Funds Industry Association, now known as the Irish Funds Industry Association. Anthony is a Board Member of Euroclear plc and Euroclear Bank SA/NV. He is also a fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants (FCCA).
Executive Vice President and Head of State Street Global Advisors, EMEA
Cuan Coulter is executive vice president and head of State Street Global Advisors (SSGA), EMEA. In this role, he is responsible for coordinating SSGA’s EMEA business, leading the preparation for regulatory change in Europe, and acting as SSGA’s primary interface with regulators and governing boards.
Cuan joined State Street in July 2008 when he took on the role of head of North American compliance at SSGA. In April 2009, he became SSGA’s global chief compliance officer. He was also a member of the Executive Management Group, the business unit’s most senior strategy and policy-making team. In January 2011, he took on the role of State Street’s chief compliance officer. In June 2017, he transitioned back over to SSGA as the head of EMEA.
Prior to joining State Street, Cuan was a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC), in their investment management industry group. Based in PwC’s Boston office, his clients included several large, complex, U.S.-based financial institutions. Prior to joining PwC’s Boston office in 1999, he was based in PwC’s Johannesburg office where he joined the firm in December 1995.
Cuan has a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Accountancy from the University of the Witwatersrand and is a Chartered Accountant (South Africa).
Global Chief Investment Officer
Rick Lacaille, executive vice president, is global chief investment officer (CIO) of State Street Global Advisors and a member of the firm's Executive Management Group. In his role as Chief Investment Officer Rick has responsibility for all investment management activity at SSGA, including research and trading.
Prior to his current role, Rick was Head of Global Active Equities, and previously European CIO. Before joining SSGA in 2000, he held a wide variety of posts in quantitative fund management and research at Gartmore Investment Management, including periods as Head of Quantitative Research and Head of Structured Equities.
Rick has a BSc (Hons) in Operational Research from Lancaster University and MSc in Econometrics from London Guildhall University.
Rick is a member of the FTSE Policy Committee and the Asset Management Committee of the Investment Association. He is a regular writer and broadcaster on investment issues and speaks frequently at industry conferences.
Kim Newell Chebator
Executive Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer, EMEA
Kim Newell Chebator is an executive vice president and the chief administrative officer (CAO) for EMEA. Kim is responsible for regional governance and control framework initiatives that provide strategic oversight across business units and legal entities. As part of her role she oversees data strategy and leads key components of State Street’s regulatory initiatives. Kim is a member of State Street’s EMEA Management Committee, the region’s most senior strategy and policy-making team.
Kim is also the executive sponsor for State Street’s Brexit Working Group, which is responsible for ensuring a consistent and over-arching framework to effectively navigate Brexit for State Street and its clients.
Kim joined State Street in 1994 as part of the Broker-Dealer business and was instrumental in building out our Transition Management business. Kim was also the Product Manager for our Portfolio Solutions Equity Trading and Broker-Dealer businesses. Before joining State Street, Kim was a specialist clerk on the floor of the Boston Stock Exchange.
Outside of her day-to-day role, Kim is a passionate ambassador for diversity and inclusion: she is an executive sponsor for State Street’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) Pride Network; is a member of Stonewall; sits on State Street’s Leading Women Executive Forum; helped establish State Street Global Market’s regular ‘Women’s Networking Events’. Kim has also spoken at multiple high-profile industry, media and trade body events to raise awareness of these topics, including Sibos and the Workplace Equality Index (WEI) – the WEI is the definitive benchmarking tool for employers to measure their progress on LGBTQ inclusion in the workplace.
Kim holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Tulane University and spent a year at Oxford University.
Executive Vice President
Rajen Shah is an executive vice president and head of State Street Global Markets (SSGM), EMEA. He is also a member of the European management committee for State Street. SSGM is the investment research, trading and securities lending house of State Street, which provides liquidity across 35 international markets; has around $500bn in lendable assets in EMEA , and traded over $700bn in FX last year in EMEA. It is also listed as a top 10 real money FX provider and ranked first in Real Money Flow Research .
Prior to this role, Rajen was the head of Global Services Onshore, EMEA and was also responsible for the Global Exchange, Investment Management Solutions and Performance Services businesses in the region.
Rajen joined State Street in July 2014 from Citi, where he was responsible for leading a portfolio of businesses including Collateral Management, Securities Finance, Foreign Exchange, Liquidity and Investments. He also held key leadership positions at J.P. Morgan Chase and at Accenture.
Rajen holds a BSc. Honours degree in Business and Computing and has completed executive studies at Harvard Business School.
Executive Vice President, global co-head of SPDR ETFs
Rory Tobin is an executive vice president of State Street Global Advisors (SSGA) and serves as the co-head of the global SPDR business.
In this role, he is responsible for defining, leading and executing the growth strategy for the Global SPDR business, with particular focus on Europe and Asia Pacific. Rory is based in London and is a member of the firm’s Executive Management Group.
Prior to joining SSGA in 2014, he was at Barclays Wealth & Investment Management, where he served as CEO of Barclays Asset Management and was global head of the Investments and Solutions business. In this role, Rory led all aspects of product, service development and distribution across banking, credit, investment management, advisory and execution, fiduciary trust and investment solutions.
Previously, he worked for BlackRock/BGI for seven years, most recently as co-CEO of the Global iShares business where he was responsible for defining, executing and leading the growth strategy for the iShares business in Europe, Asia and Latin America. He joined BGI in 2004 as head of the Global Index and Markets Group, where he was responsible for investment performance, business strategy definition and leadership for several EMEA business units, including index equity portfolio management, asset allocation strategies, cash portfolio management, securities lending and transition management. Rory began his career at Goldman Sachs, where he spent 14 years in equity capital markets, equity derivative distribution, and distribution leadership roles.
Rory graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1988 with a degree in mathematics and computer engineering.
