Institutional Investor Services
In 1974, passage of the Employee Retirement Income Security
Act effectively created the master trust industry in the
United States. The legislation required complicated regulatory
reporting and activities tracking of multiple investment
managers. Such functions demanded sophisticated systems
and substantial resources - so plan sponsors turned to companies
like State Street.
Today, we are the largest master trustee/master custodian
in the country - and as retirement plans become a concern
abroad, we're expanding quickly in Europe.
Our customers include corporate and public pension plans,
endowments and foundations. State Street's Institutional
Investor Services (IIS) business area provides an array
of services that includes safe-keeping of portfolio assets,
trade settlement, record-keeping, multicurrency reporting,
income collection, corporate action notification, tax reclamation,
cash management, and the preparation of reports to meet
U.S. Department of Labor and other government agency reporting
standards.
