State Street Corporation believes that the best way to help you begin the transition from college to the professional workforce is to provide specialized job training. New hire instruction is the cornerstone of our training efforts at State Street. Our skills training programs are designed, developed and delivered by instructors who have many years of business area experience and are experts in mutual fund, pension fund or custody services operations.

New hire training, which may vary across each position, is conducted in three phases, with a combination of formal classroom instruction, on-the-job training and multimedia education tools and resources.

  1. 5-day Core Introductory Training Program. All new entry-level employees attend a 5-day core introductory training program designed to provide an orientation to State Street and our business and an overview of the securities industry.
  2. Job Shadowing and On-the-Job Training. Upon completion of the core program, employees begin job shadowing and on-the-job training. During job shadowing, you have several resources available to you including an on-the-job trainer to guide you through your daily tasks, an on-the-job guidebook and/or job aids and study guides, and several web-based courses designed on our Discover-e Learning online training system. The timeframe for job shadowing may vary from one week to up to three months depending on the job assignment and business area.
  3. Business Area Specific Training. Following job shadowing and on-the-job training, employees return to business-area-specific programs concentrating on the operational principles necessary to perform their job. The business specific programs vary in length from a series of one-day modules to two full weeks of training, depending on the job assignment and business area.

At State Street, we strive to provide a dynamic learning environment. We utilize state-of-the-art learning technology and media to enhance the learning process and ensure that all employees have access to comprehensive training opportunities.
