John Griffin is an executive vice president and head of Global Transactions, Controls and Banking (GTCB). In this role, he sets strategic direction for complex, high-risk cash and securities activities ensuring the safekeeping and administration of assets under custody as they relate to these functions and provides executive oversight of approximately 1,000 professionals across 12+ global locations. Fundamental to John's responsibilities is ensuring effective risk management controls given the volume and complexity of transaction volume.
John has been with State Street for more than 36 years and has extensive experience in Global Operations. Prior to his current role, John led State Street’s Operations Transformation program from 2011- 2014. As head of this program, he was responsible for designing and implementing strategy to re-engineer, optimize and standardize State Street’s core business processes globally. Working in partnership with the business areas, John provided leadership and set global direction in operations process design, technical strategy, platform and implementation strategy.
John is a member of the board of directors for Mass Mentoring Partnership (MMP) and sits on the PayCo board at The Clearing House (TCH). Within State Street, he is the executive sponsor of the Irish American Professionals Group, co-executive sponsor of the Flexible Work Employee Network, co-executive sponsor of the Learning Council, a member of the Professional Women’s Network Global Advisory Board, and executive supporter of the Black Professionals Group, Asian Professionals Group, and SSC Pride. John received his Bachelor of Arts in management from Emmanuel College.
