Quarterly Overview

May 2015

The first quarter of 2015 was certainly challenging and interesting in the European political, financial and regulatory markets.

The last few months have seen the Capital Markets Union rise to the top of the agenda with firms doing some blue-skies thinking to respond to the European Union Commission’s Green Paper. In addition, there's been legislative progress on a number of key files, including the proposed Regulation on Money Market Funds, the revised Shareholders Rights Directive and the Securities Financing Transactions Regulation.

This range of developments on the regulatory front coupled with important political events mean the next few months will be busy.
