Hong Kong — State Street Corporation (NYSE: STT), the world's leading provider of financial services to institutional investors, announced today that it won a top honor in The Asset magazine's 2008 Asset Asian Awards (Triple A) ranked it No. 1 in Securities Lending services. The Asset magazine's Triple A awards were presented in late March at a dinner ceremony in Hong Kong.

| The Asset cited State Street's "impeccable" reputation in securities lending noting State Street's scale and size in the region, adding, "One can get a full sense of just how much the quality of their service is appreciated from the balanced array of new mandates it won last year across the region, especially in key markets such as Korea, China and Japan." |
