Executive Vice President, Head of Data Intelligence and Markets Research
Will Kinlaw is executive vice president and head of Data Intelligence and Markets Research at State Street. The Data Intelligence unit helps clients distill actionable insights from proprietary datasets and is powered in part by State Street’s 2025 acquisition of PriceStats, the world’s leading provider of low latency inflation analytics. Leveraging State Street’s global technology and data infrastructure — along with State Street Associates, its hub for academic and fintech partnerships — the team develops products that enhance clients’ investment, trading, operational, and distribution capabilities.
Will also serves as head of Research for State Street Markets, where he oversees the firm’s award-winning global research platform. This team of data scientists, quantitative researchers, and economists delivers insights directly to decision makers responsible for some of the world’s largest institutional asset pools.
Will joined State Street in 2002. His published research, spanning more than a dozen peer reviewed journal articles over nearly two decades, focuses on how investors can use data and quantitative models to improve investment outcomes. He has received six research awards, including the Harry M. Markowitz Award, which was awarded by a panel of Nobel laureates to Will and his co authors in 2023 for their research on the drivers of inflation. He is also the co- author of “Asset Allocation: From Theory to Practice and Beyond” (2021).
Will serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Portfolio Management, the Journal of Private Markets Investing, and the Journal of Alternative Investments, and is a frequent speaker at investment conferences worldwide. He holds a Master of Science degree in finance from Boston College and a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Tufts University.
