The weight of global debt

Ron O’Hanley joined a panel of experts to examine the implications of global debt exceeding US$300 trillion — nearly 90 percent of global GDP — at a time of sharply elevated borrowing costs. The discussion focused on how record‑high debt and tighter fiscal conditions are limiting economic resilience, constraining productive investment and accelerating the need to rethink the world’s approach to debt amid difficult political tradeoffs.
