Julia McCarthy is the executive vice president and head of client experience for State Street. In this capacity, she leads global teams across marketing, client onboarding and specialized client services including Tax, Performance and Analytics, Investment Compliance and Financial Reporting. Julia is also a member of State Street’s Management Committee.

Julia has more than 30 years of experience in financial services. Most recently, she held senior leadership roles at Fidelity Investments, where she was responsible for the launch of its entry into expanding workplace health care benefits for employers beyond recordkeeping. Prior to that role, she was the head of Workplace Marketing, Solutions and Customer Experience with a focus on product, marketing and experiences intended to drive customer loyalty. Before joining Fidelity, Julia held leadership positions with Affiliated Computer Services and Mellon Financial Corporation. She spent the first eight years of her career in human resources at The Boston Company.

Julia co-chairs State Street’s executive talent council, which advances development and determines promotion for senior leaders, and is engaged in a number of mentoring programs, including as a member of the company’s Professional Women’s Network, which focuses on career development, networking, developing public speaking and other professional skills. She is also a member of Leading Women, a sponsorship program for senior women across the company.

Julia received a bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology from Assumption College. She serves on the Executive Committee of the Board of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Massachusetts (BBBSEM) and is the Chair of the Board Diversity Committee. She joined the BBBSEM Board as they worked to expand the organization’s service across Eastern Massachusetts to more than double the youth served within five years. Julia also served on the board of directors for Secure Retirement Institute.
