Executive Vice President, Global Controller and Chief Accounting Officer

Jack Read is executive vice president and global controller and chief accounting officer at State Street. He leads the firm’s global controllership organization, with responsibility for financial and regulatory reporting, tax, accounting policy, internal controls, and Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) oversight across all our jurisdictions. He is a key partner to the Executive Committee, the company’s senior leadership team, the Board’s Examining and Audit Committee, auditors, and regulators, advancing our finance transformation agenda and strengthening the firm’s control and risk management environment.

With more than 30 years of financial services experience, Jack is both a Certified Public Accountant and a licensed attorney, a combination that provides depth across the technical accounting, regulatory, and governance dimensions of the Controller role.

Most recently, Jack served as global controller and Chief Accounting Officer at MSCI Inc. and, before that, as controller and chief accounting officer at Citizens Financial Group, leading organizations responsible for core accounting, Securities and Exchange Commission reporting, accounting policy, tax, SOX, business unit risk management, and finance transformation, while partnering closely with the Audit Committee and external auditors. His background also includes leading operational risk management and financial operations at MUFG Americas, as well as tax roles at JPMorgan Chase, and eleven years at KPMG where he served for four years as a financial services tax partner for multiple US regions.

Jack obtained his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting from the Isenberg School of Management, at the University of Massachusetts, and his Juris Doctor from the Temple University.
