Stefan Gmür
Executive Vice President, Head of Strategic Business Growth and Global Credit Finance

Stefan Gmür is executive vice president and head of Strategic Business Growth and Global Credit Finance for State Street. In his strategic growth role, Stefan, in partnership with business leaders across our Investment Services, Product, State Street Alpha®, Global Delivery and State Street Markets organizations, is responsible for driving revenue growth through strategic revenue opportunities such as acquisitions, lift-outs or other large-scale and complex business initiatives. As credit finance lead, he is responsible for supporting our clients' strategic growth objectives through their evolving financing needs utilizing a broad array of liquidity and loan-based financing products.

Previously, Stefan was global head of Official Institutions and international head of Asset Owners and Insurance Companies. For the past 18 months, he has also served as interim head of our Investment Services business in Asia Pacific, further expanding his leadership across key client segments and geographies.

Since joining State Street in 2002, Stefan has served in many strategic roles of increasing responsibility over more than two decades with the firm. From 2016 through 2022, he was chief executive officer for State Street Bank International GmbH, Munich, and before that, head of Sector Solutions for Europe, Middle East and Africa, where he was responsible for sales, cross-selling to existing clients, mergers and acquisitions, and large-deal activity across our client sectors. From 2003 through 2016, he was Speaker of the Board, State Street Bank International GmbH.

Stefan is an international financial services veteran with more than 35 years of industry experience. Prior to his tenure with us he held senior-level positions at Bank Leu AG, JP Morgan, The Bank of New York and Deutsche Bank. During his career, Stefan has worked across the full range of industry disciplines, including new business development, securities operations, client service, cash management, trade finance, equity trading, securities lending, relationship management and marketing, in Switzerland, the United Kingdom and Germany.

He has served on various State Street boards and is currently a member of the State Street Saudi Arabia Financial Solutions board.
