Michael Richards
Executive Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer

Mike Richards is executive vice president and chief administrative officer (CAO) for State Street, and is a member of State Street’s Executive Committee, the company’s senior leadership team. In his role as CAO, Mike oversees the First Line Business Risk Management (BRM) and Resiliency organization. Additionally, he assists the Office of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in the overall administration of the Executive Committee and enterprise corporate governance activities. He serves as a Board member of State Street International Holdings. He plays a key role in overseeing or administering certain enterprise programs.

Previously, Mike served as Senior Advisor to our Chairman and CEO, Ron O’Hanley, and to members of the Executive Committee as it related to firm-wide governance of regulatory matters and broader emerging risks, as well as to anticipated changes to the complex risk and regulatory environment we operate in. He was also responsible for a variety of subject areas that are managed through the Office of the CEO, including oversight of our enterprise Objectives and Key Results (OKRs). Earlier, Mike also held the role of Chief Auditor for State Street.

Before joining us in June 2014, Mike was a partner at Ernst & Young and was responsible for managing its Banking and Capital Markets practice in the United States. Before that, he was a partner at Arthur Andersen. He has 30 years of experience in auditing and consulting for public financial services companies and in providing advisory services, including risk management, and regulatory compliance services, to clients in the global banking and financial services industry. He is a certified public accountant.

Mike currently serves on the Board of Directors for Project Bread, a Massachusetts based non-for-profit focusing on ending food insecurity in Massachusetts. He is chairman of the Finance Committee.
