Chief Marketing Officer

Brenda Tsai is executive vice president and chief marketing officer for State Street and is responsible for the firm’s global brand and marketing strategy and execution, including content, digital marketing, events, product campaigns and media relations. In this role, Brenda leads State Street’s global marketing team in accelerating customer acquisition, deepening perception around State Street’s offering and building mindshare among all stakeholders.

Brenda joins State Street with decades of experience in growing brands, and modernizing marketing and communications for some of the world’s leading financial services, technology and manufacturing firms. An award-winning executive known for crafting breakthrough initiatives by applying business and operational rigor to creative brand and digital strategies, Brenda has led teams across every facet of marketing and communications and has continually looked to create and amplify purpose-driven brands by leveraging the power of analytics.

Previously, Brenda served as the chief marketing officer of BNY Mellon, where she led a global rebrand and website relaunch for the firm. Earlier in her career, she was a managing director at General Electric driving GE’s “Imagination Breakthroughs,” GE’s highest-growth businesses, and a P&L leader at Procter & Gamble.

Brenda is a passionate advocate of advancing marketing and diversity in business. She has been an active member of a number of leading business and industry associations, including the Association of National Advertisers, the Ascend Executive Network, the WSJ CMO Council and the Women’s Forum of NY.

Brenda earned a dual master’s degree in business administration and international studies from the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor’s degree with honors from Stanford University.
