Executive Vice President and Global Head of Investor Relations

Ilene Fiszel Bieler is executive vice president, global head of Investor Relations and chief operating officer for State Street Global Markets and Global Credit Finance. In her role as global head of Investor Relations, Ilene is responsible for managing relationships with shareholders and analysts. With more than 20 years of experience in banking, Ilene interacts daily with Wall Street, communicating corporate strategy and performance to security analysts and portfolio managers. She provides advice and support to the Board of Directors, Chief Executive, Chief Financial Officer and Executive Committee in matters related to the equity market, including the quarterly results process and other financial and strategic communications.

As chief operating officer for State Street Global Markets and Global Credit Finance, Ilene is responsible for prioritizing executive engagement with clients, coordinating non-financial performance metrics, and managing the execution of strategic and tactical initiatives. She serves as a member of the Balance Sheet Businesses Executive Management Group and assists with managing the group’s strategic priorities. She also serves as a member of State Street’s ESG Oversight Committee.

Prior to joining State Street in 2017, Ilene served as the head of Investor Relations and Strategy for the Americas at Barclays, managing the firm’s investor program. She was responsible for equity market engagement activities in the Americas, as well as investor strategy, including content for investor presentations, analyst meetings and quarterly earnings announcements. Ilene also managed the Barclays Group Strategy Team in the Americas, which was responsible for defining the scope and objectives of business challenges, identifying options, and providing independent analysis and business strategy to find solutions, while optimizing Barclays’ operating model.

Before Barclays, Ilene was the head of Fixed Income Investor and Rating Agency Relations globally at Citigroup. She developed the strategy for, and ensured execution of Citi’s Rating Agency and Fixed Income Investor initiatives through a proactive strategy of engagement and analytics. Ilene’s expertise centered on Citi’s balance sheet, including liquidity and asset liability management, and capital optimization. She was also responsible for developing and maintaining the company’s relationships with rating agency analysts, buy-side and sell-side credit analysts, and fixed income investors, who collectively represented more than US$500 billion of Citi’s funding base.

While at Citigroup, Ilene held a variety of positions working across product lines and regions, and interfacing with the public, clients and government regulators. She began her career in banking at Salomon Smith Barney.

Ilene was selected for inclusion in the 2022 Edition of Crain’s New York Business’s Notable Women on Wall Street. An advocate of talent development, Ilene created the State Street Finance Graduate Program, a two-year rotational program for MBA graduates. Ilene is also a member of “Leading Women,” a group of senior female executive mentors at State Street. She is a Trustee of the Jeremiah Program New York, a non-profit organization that prepares single mothers to excel in the workforce, readies their children to succeed in school and reduces generational dependence on public assistance.

A native of New York City, Ilene is a graduate of the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Arts, and a graduate of New York University with a master’s degree in urban planning.
