Sarah Berwick is the Group Business Chief Information Officer (CIO) for Global Markets, Global Services and Global Delivery at State Street. Sarah is responsible for aligning technology to deliver better business outcomes, improve resiliency and streamline the production support model. She is also focused on transforming the workforce and simplifying the operating model while reducing the number of applications. Sarah is a member of the Executive Talent Committee, the Professional Women’s Network and she serves on the Board of State Street Hangzhou for our operations in mainland China.
Sarah joined us in March 2018 as Global Markets’ CIO. She was a voting member of the State Street Global Markets’ Executive Management Group, where she defined and executed a cohesive technology strategy for State Street Global Markets.
Before joining us, Sarah was a managing director at J.P. Morgan, heading Global Payments and Intraday Liquidity Technology. She was responsible for all Wholesale Payment platforms, which process US$6 trillion and 24 million payments per day. She joined J.P. Morgan in 2015 and won their 2017 Innovation Award for designing and delivering a new global payment strategy program and platform. Prior to that, Sarah was working with Deutsche Bank and held positions in both New York and London, including CIO of Coverage Technology, head of Investment Bank Settlements Technology, CIO of European Global Markets and co-head of FX Technology.
Sarah has won industry awards for Best Use of Mobile Technology, Best Use of CRM and Best Back Office Project. She also has a Data Visualization design patent and a utility patent pending. Sarah was also the head of Take It Forward in New York, a technology leadership program for women and served on The Clearing House Technology Committee in New York. She earned a Master of Business Administration in finance from Fordham University and a Bachelor of Sciences in biopsychology from Vassar College.
