Christopher Herringshaw is executive vice president and chief technology officer (CTO) at State Street. He leads our enterprise technology strategy and platforms across infrastructure, architecture, cloud, artificial intelligence, application development, and end-user experience – ensuring our platforms remain highly operational, resilient, and cost-efficient at a global scale and our technology investments are consistent, scalable, and aligned to our long-term strategy. He partners with leaders across Technology, Operations, and our business lines to advance our multi‑year roadmaps, champion innovation, embed modern engineering practices, and continually strengthen our security, compliance, and risk posture while accelerating time‑to‑value for our clients.
Based in London, Chris also serves on the Global Technology Services executive leadership team.
An accomplished global technology leader, Chris brings deep experience in delivering complex transformation programs in regulated, mission critical environments, and building high‑performance organizations.
Previously, as CTO of Janus Henderson Investors, he modernized their front-, middle-, and back-office platforms, and helped build their global data lake platform and bring AI technology to the firm. Prior to JHI, he spent 15 years at Citadel Investment Group, leading infrastructure, architecture, development, data, and advanced research and development teams. Chris also served as CTO for Vista Equity Partners, and in prior roles was the founder of multiple technology startup companies, creating award-winning, patented technology for Intellectual Property Geolocation, among others.
Chris obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Michigan in computer engineering, where he later served as an Engineering Advisory Board Member for the University of Michigan College of Engineering.
