How does State Street’s Data intelligence help clients achieve better investment outcomes?
State Street's mission is to create better outcomes for the world's investors and the people they serve. And the mission of Data Intelligence is really aligned with that. Because one of the ways you get better investment outcomes is by having better information, better data, because it gives you an information edge that improves your performance. And that's what data intelligence is all about.

We sit in a unique position here at State Street, we're servicing our clients and a whole range of asset classes and a whole range of different businesses. And we have a really interesting perspective. And they want to know from us not only what insights can you give me from my own data, but sitting where you sit, looking across all the data you see, what insights can you give me that help me improve my performance, my operations?

In what ways do State Street’s unique data and insights empower clients to make smarter decisions?
Well, the first thing is we have really good data. We have high quality data. If you take, for example, our Private Capital Indices, we have phenomenal, very clean data on private equity and credit assets that our clients find very valuable. So having good data is obviously critical. But it's also about looking where the real client needs are. Because data is a means to an end, data is there to solve a problem.

Right? And so we understand our client workflows. We understand their investment challenges, their operations challenges. And our goal is to use data to drive insight, to drive improvements, to drive efficiency, to help them solve problems and get better.

What are the key areas of focus for State Street’s investor data and analytics?
We've chosen to focus on two areas. And we've chosen these areas really intentionally. One area is private capital. We're looking at private markets data and analytics. This is an area that's historically quite opaque. Our clients are all looking for better sources of information about their private portfolios and the universe of private assets. And we offer a range of benchmarks and tools there that help them improve their performance.

The other area is investment signals and research, and this is designed for our portfolio managers, traders, chief investment officers. And it's about data and information that helps them get ahead of market moves, get ahead of economic trends and therefore improve their performance.
