Stefan Gmür

Stefan Gmür is executive vice president and global head of Sales, Strategic Growth and Global Credit Finance at State Street. In his sales and strategic growth role, Stefan partners with leaders across Investment Services, Product, State Street Alpha^®, Global Delivery and State Street Markets to drive the execution of our sales strategy and growth through strategic initiatives such as acquisitions, lift-outs and other large-scale business opportunities. As credit finance lead, he is responsible for supporting our clients' strategic growth objectives through their evolving financing needs utilizing a broad array of liquidity and loan-based financing products.

Over his two-decade tenure with State Street, Stefan has held strategic leadership responsibilities across all major regions, including Europe, the Middle East and Asia, where he has successfully aligned commercial strategies with client objectives, built high-performing teams and delivered results in diverse regulatory environments.

Prior to his current role, Stefan was global head of Official Institutions and international head of Asset Owners and Insurance Companies. He has also served as interim head of our Investment Services business in Asia Pacific for 18 months, further expanding his leadership across key client segments and geographies. From 2016 to 2022, Stefan served as Chief Executive Officer of State Street Bank International GmbH, Munich, and prior to that as Speaker of the Board from 2003 to 2016. Stefan currently serves on the State Street Saudi Arabia Financial Solutions Board.

Before joining State Street in 2002, Stefan held senior positions in Switzerland, the United Kingdom and Germany across a full range of industry disciplines with Bank Leu AG, JP Morgan, The Bank of New York and Deutsche Bank.
