State Street Foundation, Inc.

Through State Street Foundation, State Street’s charitable arm, we make grants to nonprofits and nongovernmental organizations in countries where State Street operates.  The Foundation’s primary strategic focus areas are education and workforce development.

We believe the most effective way to improve the overall well-being of our communities is to help disadvantaged individuals earn and make a living. By keeping a sharp focus on education and work, we’ll bring lasting economic benefits to the communities where we live and work.

Since 2010, the Foundation has invested in high-performing nonprofits that are achieving measurable results in the following categories:

  • Basic Education
  • College success/Credentials
  • Employability

Our funding strategy serves disadvantaged populations and supports economic mobility.

A Focus on Racial Equity

State Street Foundation’s grant making strategy and approach are described in detail in our funding guidelines. In 2020, State Street Foundation engaged an independent, external consulting partner to systematically evaluate its current grant portfolio from a racial equity perspective. In 2021, State Street Foundation added racial equity as a funding focus as we look to address systemic racism in education and employment.
